Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s veterans section requires the DD-214 with the town clerk by September 30, 2026, for the veteran’s exemption on the 2026 grand list, and a VA benefits letter from veterans with service-connected ratings. Its additional veterans exemption section sets the 2026 grand list income maximums at $46,300 single and $56,500 married, filed biennially on form M-59a between February 1 and October 1, and keeps “100% V.A. determined Disabled Veterans … $18,000 for single applicants and $21,000 for married applicants (adjusted gross income only; Social Security Income is not considered).” A veteran whose combined service-connected rating is totally and permanently disabled “may be eligible for an assessment exemption equivalent to your house or vehicle.” OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Barkhamsted as offering the 12-81f wartime and 30-year retiree exemption at $3,000 with OPM’s income limits; the town’s page prints no amount for a local option. The office also posts the Application for Motor Vehicle Property Tax Exemption or Exemption Benefit for Connecticut Residents who are Members of the Armed Forces under 12-81(53). Barkhamsted’s code is on eCode360 (BA1323), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168).

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
