Autauga County Revenue Commissioner: Disability Homestead Exemptions
Autauga County's Revenue Commissioner, Kathy Evans, takes the State's homestead and disability exemption claims at 135 North Court Street, Prattville (334-358-6750); the office publishes no exemption text, and from October 1, 2026 a veteran VA has found permanently and totally disabled no longer has to reclaim the exemption each year.
Also called: property tax, homestead, revenue, ad valorem, disability exemption, H2, H3, 40-9-21, Act 2026-598, Act 2026-268, Kathy Evans, Prattville, Autaugaville, Billingsley, Pine Level, Booth, Marbury, Jones.
The exemptions are the State's: Code section 40-9-21's complete exemption for a person permanently and totally disabled on the principal residence and up to 160 acres, and section 40-9-19's routes, as the State's principal-residence entries explain.
Where. The Revenue Commissioner's office, 135 North Court Street, Prattville 36067; Revenue Commissioner Kathy Evans, 334-358-6750; Deputy Revenue Commissioner Sarah McLean; Revenue Department supervisor Angie Calloway. The county's Revenue / Reappraisal Office page welcomes visitors and links the property-record and payment portals, and publishes nothing on homestead or disability exemptions, so bring the State's proofs: a VA award letter showing a permanent and total rating, or the other proofs the State entry lists.
Renewal. Alabama has asked disability claimants to reclaim each year. From October 1, 2026, Act 2026-598 (section 40-9-21.1(b)(2)) releases a veteran whom VA has determined to be permanently and totally disabled from claiming or verifying again after first qualifying. Tell the office of the VA determination when you first claim.
Buying a home. Act 2026-268 (section 40-9-21.3) lets a 100 percent permanent and total veteran get a tentative certificate from the assessing official within 20 days before buying, so the tax is left out of the mortgage debt-to-income ratio.
