Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The City of Attleboro grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a city can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessor’s Office “Statutory Exemption Overview” for fiscal 2026 (updated June 11, 2025) gives “Clause 22, 22 A-E (Disabled Veteran) Ranges - $410.00 - $1025.00 - FULL”. The range spans the statute’s $400 (clause 22) to $1,000 (clause 22E) raised by a uniform 2.5 per cent; the Department of Revenue’s clause 22I adjustment for fiscal 2026 is 2.9 per cent, which gives $412 and $1,029, and the sheet names no local option, so ask the assessors what produced the amounts. A veteran applies on the state’s statutory exemption form, which the office posts. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Attleboro Veterans Department. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
