Who is eligible: applicants with a total household income within the VA Pension Rates, who must be eligible for VA health care; exceptions to the income rule can be made with a letter from a doctor stating the veteran is unable to drive. R.S.V.P. requires at least 72 hours notice of an appointment to schedule a driver. Places available: Athens CBOC, Chillicothe, Columbus, Marietta area, Logan, Gallipolis and Lancaster; travel can also be arranged to VA facilities within the network. Apply in person Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the application, DD-214, proof of residency and proof of income. Travel reimbursement, the office's second route: a veteran eligible for VA health care who visits a VA medical facility or a VA-set-up consult brings proof of the visit from the facility or consult office to attach to the application; reimbursement cannot be made for appointments older than 30 days, and amounts vary by appointment location.
