The office. The county's Veterans Services Office page reads, in full: "Jason Deeken, 3rd Floor Archer County Courthouse, 940-574-4700", with a link to the State's Veterans Assistance portal. It gives no hours or e-mail address, so call first. The office files VA and State claims under Government Code chapter 434 (see the Texas entry). TexVet's county list names Wayne McCallum at the same number. The shared officer. Mr. Deeken is also Clay County's Veterans Service Officer, at 101 N. Main Street, Henrietta (940-538-0301; see clay-tx-veterans-services). Neither county's page mentions the other, and no record read describes an agreement between them; Archer pays its own part-time salary for the office, and Clay carries its office as contract labor. How the county funds it. Department 436, "Veterans' Affairs", is $12,091.40 in the FY 2027 budget (October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027), adopted by the Commissioners Court on September 14, 2026: $9,936 of "Regular Part-time Salaries", $1,195.30 for retirement, $760.10 for FICA and $200 for office supplies, with nothing for the telephone line that took $1,025 in FY2026. It was $12,485.13 for FY2026 and spent $9,128.84 in FY2025. Jurors may give their pay to the office: the County Clerk's fund records $40 of "Jury Donations - Veterans Service Office" in FY2025 (Government Code 61.003).
