Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The District Court in Anne Arundel County runs a veterans treatment court, one of the Maryland Judiciary's problem-solving courts. The Judiciary describes a veterans court as a way for a justice-involved veteran who may have post-traumatic stress, a traumatic brain injury, another mental health condition, or a substance use disorder to resolve outstanding charges while getting treatment, and it connects participants to VA benefits, supportive housing, and local resources where the veteran does not qualify for VA care. The Judiciary's September 2026 directory lists the coordinator at the United Way of Central Maryland, (410) 895-1495. Entry comes through the criminal case, so a veteran or the veteran's lawyer should raise it with the court. It is not a tax break or a benefit a veteran applies for outside a criminal case.
